Salt Pig Deli is the achievement of husband & wife team, Kev & Fi Severn.

Established in 2017 the concept was to produce a space filled with character, where some of the finest charcuterie, cheeses & dry goods can be found nestled beside our housemade traditional sourdough, pastries & the finest bespoke coffee.

 

The idea was born one rainy birthday, when frustration (at the lack of quality charcuterie & cheese available to create a grazing board) turned to inspiration (after a few afternoon vino’s) and the decision was made to open our own deli to service this niche in the local market”.“

“For me, I wanted to create a warm welcoming place where people get excited about their visit. One of my fondest memories growing up in the UK was our weekly visit to the local shops with my Dad and sisters. I’m one of four girls and on a Saturday morning Dad would take us down to the bakers to pick up our fresh bread order. Then we’d head next door to the butchers to choose what small goods we’d like before heading home and tearing into the warm crusty bread to make sandwiches for lunch. I love when customers leave the deli knowing they can’t wait to get home and sample their goodies just as I did back then.”

Plain Sourdough

Our most popular bread, a traditional sourdough, naturally leavened over a 72 hour ferment. Baked fresh and available daily Tuesday - Saturday.

Ciabatta

Made using the same starter as our traditional sourdough with a little added bakers yeast the dough is fermented for 24 hours. Used for all our made to order sandwiches and perfect paired with our grazing platters. Baked fresh and available from 10am Tuesday - Saturday.

Handmade Pastries

Buttery rich pastry dough is laminated and hand shaped to produce the best pastries on the coast.

Deli Sandwiches

Made fresh to order using products straight from the deli counter and served on our own house baked bread. 

 

Grazing Platters

Gourmet grazing boards and boxes in a range of sizes filled with the very best artisan cheeses and cured meats with antipasto accompaniments.

Peaberrys Coffee Roasters

We are proud to serve Peaberrys Coffee Roasters beans. Black Betty is a delicious blend of Ethiopian, Columbian and Brazilian beans expertly roasted in Newcastle, a true speciality coffee.
